SAN MARCOS, Texas – Like the sports cars that race every June in his hometown of LeMans, France, UT Arlington junior Romain Martin is endowed with speed, power and endurance. They’re qualities that serve him well in his specialty, the decathlon.

This weekend, Martin used all three to successfully to go the distance and defend his decathlon title at the Southland Conference Track and Field Championships, held at Texas State University’s Bobcat Stadium.

The most anticipated pitching match in years at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington turned out to be more of a washout of sorts Friday night – literally.

The Texas Rangers combined a masterful pitching performance by Yu Darvish with another monstrous offensive display from Josh Hamilton to overcome both the elements and their biggest division rivals, the Los Angeles Angels, 10-3, before a sellout crowd of
48,201.
