Update: Woman deceased after being struck by train

ARLINGTON – Wednesday night, the Arlington Police Department responded to a train versus pedestrian incident near the intersection of Collins and Abrams.

According to a release sent out by Media Relations Coordinator Tiara Richard, a man was “laying on the tracks” when a train came through the area and struck him. The victim was reported as deceased. Officers are still investigating the incident and have not concluded whether the death was a suicide or accidental.

The call came into police around 9:15 p.m. The northbound and southbound lanes of Collins between Abram and Division streets were closed while officers were responding.

UPDATE: On Thursday morning, the Arlington Police Department sent out the following statement via twitter:

Investigators believe victim was female. Tarrant County Medical Examiner will determine identity and cause of death

In a conversation with Arlington Voice, Ms. Richard confirmed that the victim was a woman.
