Home game against OU highlights 2012-13 UTA men's hoops slate

From wire reports

A home game at the College Park Center against traditional Big 12 powerhouse Oklahoma, road games against two more Big 12 stalwarts, Texas and Oklahoma State, and the first matchups against opponents in the new Western Athletic Conference highlight the 2012-13 UT Arlington men’s basketball schedule, released on Thursday.

The schedule also features a road game against traditional rival North Texas, and home games against Houston Baptist, Boise State and an opponent to be named in a Sears Bracketbuster contest on Feb. 23, two-and-a-half weeks before the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas.

UTA and Oklahoma have met five times previously, but always in Norman. The Sooners will be the first Big 12 team to play on the UTA campus. The game will be played on Friday, Nov. 16, which is Homecoming Weekend at UTA.

UTA only got to play four games at the new 7,000-seat College Park Center last year, but went 4-0 in the games.

The Mavericks will open the schedule on the road Nov. 9 against Cal-State Bakersfield, before returning home to play Oklahoma in the home opener. UTA then returns to the road for games against Samford (Nov. 24), North Texas (Nov. 28), Texas (Dec. 1) and UT Pan American (Dec. 3).

Houston Baptist visits College Park Center on Dec. 13. The Mavericks then travel to Stillwater to play Oklahoma State on Dec. 19, before opening their first WAC campaign at home against New Mexico State and Denver on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31, respectively.

The WAC schedule features home and road contests against New Mexico State, Denver, Louisiana Tech, Seattle, Idaho, Utah State and San Jose State, plus former Southland Conference opponents Texas State and UT San Antonio.

Season tickets are currently on sale through the UTA athletics office. For more information, call 817-272-6319.
